Rally Day or Homecoming Sunday has always been a special one for Hammond Streeters!  It marks the “official” start of the Sunday School year, and it is a time-honored way to welcome the church family back from camp and the activities of summer.

The Christian Education Committee and the Diaconate are teaming up to make this year extra memorable. Following our 10:00 AM worship service, we shall adjourn to the Fellowship Hall for the HSCC version of a Tailgate Picnic—complete with Tonka trucks decorating the tables! Lovern Stockwell and friends are putting together the finishing touches on the menu and décor.  Don Spencer and Brad Ryder, grillers extraordinaire, will be preparing hot dogs, buns, chips, condiments, beverages, as well as small ice cream treats for the children.

Hammond Streeters are asked to bring something to share.  Examples include salads: potato, macaroni, fruit, coleslaw, vegetables, etc.  Side dishes: corn, beans, pickles, etc.  Dessert suggestions:  cookies, brownies, fruit, etc.  Wear your picnic attire.

Our opening hymn on Rally Day will be “All Are Welcome”:

Let us build a house where love can dwell and all can safely live.

A place where saints and children tell how hearts learn to forgive.

Built of hopes and dreams and visions, rock of faith and vault of grace,

here the love of Christ shall end divisions:

All are welcome, all are welcome in this place.       —Marty Haugen
